Name: Brittany Barney
Candidate for office: City Council 3rd district, Democrat
Place of residence: Bristol
Profession: Training Facilitator
Public service experience: Although she doesn’t work in the government sector, she said she has always been interested in politics. “A large part of my role requires collaboration and creative working sessions to solve important issues with limited time and resources,” Barney said. “I want to see our city thrive and support businesses that attract new taxpayers to the city that we love. I feel the city has made some strides in regards to development. I feel there is much more that should be done and I intend to be a part of the process of moving those things forward.”
What do you hope to achieve if elected? Put Bristol on the map as a place where things happen, make residents proud of their hometown, keep taxes manageable, make existing dollars work better, preserve businesses and attract new businesses by branding the city as a desirable location, she said.
Message to voters: “I stand on the field ready to play. We are lucky enough to have a government where our voices can be heard through our own civic action and there is no better time than the present to become involved. I know together we can make our city even grander than it has ever been and a place where we can all work, play and live our best lives,” Barney said.
