Name: Andrew Howe

Candidate for office: City Council 2nd district, Republican

Place of residence: Bristol

Profession: Former manager of 13 Whole Donut Chain locations.

Public service experience: Howe is on the executive board for the republican town committee, he said, and the chair of the public relations subcommittee. “Bullying has got out of control nationwide and I would really like us to work with the mentor program.

What do you hope to achieve if elected? If elected, he aims “to continue bringing in businesses,” because “with the hospital coming, it should start the revitalization of downtown.” There are so many at-risk teens that an hour or two a week can really help,” Howe said. He added, “I‘d like us to work as a whole, and not each individual person having their own agenda.” He wants the city to be a place his kids will return to after college.

Message to voters: “Whether it’s one person, or 50, at least they know at the end of the day they can come to the council. I want residents to get involved in their town,” Howe said, “I‘d like us to work as a whole and not each individual person having their own agenda.” He added that there has been a lack of public participation at city meetings, which is “a big, intricate part” of local government and something he has already been working on.
