Public service experience: Currently on City Council, the park board and is the liaison to the police department. She obtained a criminal law degree from of California, Los Angeles. “The hospital building is coming to Centre Square, so we need to attract other businesses.
What do you hope to achieve if elected? She hopes to see “an overarching plan” that encompasses the development of Centre Square and the Memorial Boulevard School. If we have 300 [hospital] employees going there every day, we need to attract businesses that cater to them,” she said. “To have a theater and bring more arts and culture to the city, which I think is a very important part of any community, is what I would like to do.”
Message to voters: Zils Gagne is “socially liberal and fiscally conservative,” but “party affiliation means less than the community.” She added that serving on the council provides the platform to talk and help constituents. “Zils Gagne “looks at things on a factual basis.” She said, “I don’t like to let emotion get in the way. I like to hear both sides of the argument when I make a decision. If I’m not clear on both sides I won’t make a decision.”
