NAME: Peter Santago

Candidate for office: Town Council

Town: Southington

Party: Republican

Years on council: 0, running as a challenger. He previously served on the Board of Education and has 30 years of experience working at United Technologies.

Goal if elected: “I want to see the tax base grow and to see the council continue to support education while also being mindful of folks that can’t afford to pay high taxes. Open space is also very important to me. I’ve lived here my whole life and I remember the way it used to be - when Queen Street was all farms. We have to maintain some semblance of the town the way it used to be.”

Message to voters: “Although it may sound corny, this town means something to me. I will bring executive experience to the council and I will be open to listening to suggestions. I made the decision to run because I thought I could bring something positive.”
