The Central Connecticut State men’s and women’s basketball teams each had 1 p.m. tipoffs against Fairleigh-Dickinson on Sunday and both squads left their games with 20-point losses.

On the road, the men’s team shot 35.4 percent from the field and 15.8 percent (3-for-19) from behind the three-point line as Fairleigh-Dickinson protected its home court with 75-55 victory. The loss drops the Blue Devils’ record to 5-17 overall and 2-7 in the Northeast Conference with one month remaining on their schedule. They will host the Knights on Saturday, Feb. 5.

While challenging CCSU’s offense all game, shots fell more easily for Fairleigh-Dickinson, which made more than half of its shots from the field and almost half of its shots from long range.

Freshman Andre Snoddy posted his second double-double of the season (14 points, 10 rebounds) as the Blue Devils had one of their worst offensive outings of the year. They were held to a season-low three three-pointers and had eight assists while making 16 turnovers.

CCSU’s final eight games are against NEC opponents starting with a home contest against Wagner at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

The women’s team played host to FDU on Sunday afternoon and faced a similar fate. The Blue Devils led by one point at halftime, but were outscored 22-5 in the third quarter and the Knights never looked back.

CCSU made two shots on 22 attempts in the third quarter while Chloe Wilson and Sierra DeAngelo combined for 15 points in the period to carry Fairleigh-Dickinson into the last 10 minutes with a big lead after a 19-2 run.

The Blue Devils made four of six threes in the first quarter and then missed their ensuing 12 attempts for the remainder of the contest. Sophomore Dejah Jenkins led her team in scoring with 15 points and was closely followed by senior Ashley Berube, who scored 15. They received minimal offensive support otherwise as no other player finished with more than five points.

CCSU will look to end its six-game losing streak Thursday when it has a road contest against Wagner at 7 p.m.
