CCSU men's soccer falls to Rider for second straight loss

Rider men's soccer (1-1-1) got the best of Central Connecticut (0-2) Thursday night, winning 4-1.

The Blue Devils jumped on the board early, scoring the first goal on the first shot of the contest in the 23rd minute off the foot of Erik Hjersson, but Rider hauled off with four straight to win the game with insurance.

Regis Dulck ('37), Adel Al-Masude ('42), Sergio Aguinaga ('60) and Zaki Alibou ('73) followed the opening score as Rider poured it on. In total, the Broncs had 13 shots with seven finding the goal. Jason Dubrovich had three saves for the Blue Devils.

Central Connecticut had seven shots, two finding the goal. Pablo Gatinois made one save for the Broncs.

Both sides were even in fouls with 16 each. Rider held the edge in corner kicks with seven to CCSU's two.

The Blue Devils will be back in action Sunday afternoon for their home opener, taking on Harvard at 3 p.m.
