Jake Dolegala has returned to the Green Bay Packers for the second time after being waived by the New England Patriots on August 9, leading to his release.
Dolegala joined the Pats on July 28th after the Packers waived him the day earlier. He spent two months with the Packers this offseason, signing in June to participate in mandatory minicamp.
The Packers did not formally announce Dolegala’s return. Green Bay released cornerback Stanford Samuels to make room for Dolegala on the roster.
His return to the club comes after Jordan Love sustained a shoulder injury during a preseason contest.
An undrafted free agent in 2019, Dolegala spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, earning a roster spot for the entirety for the 2019 season but did not appear in a game. He was released after losing the backup competition for Joe Burrow’s spot in 2020, getting waived in the final cuts on Sept. 5, 2020.
As of Tuesday night, Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love, Dolegala and Kurt Benkert are the rostered QBs on the Packers.
Dolegala appeared in last week’s contest against the Jets, going 0-1 in passing with one interception. The Packers lost 23-14.
