Central Connecticut State University's Roma McLaughlin was named to the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List last Thursday.
The Irish-born junior midfielder is one of 41 players on the list who have also received All-American recognition from the United Soccer Coaches, the largest soccer coaches organization in the world.
Among players on the list are soccer players from nationally ranked Div. I teams, all being upperclassmen or graduates. She's one of five international-born players selected, and is the only player from the Northeast Conference to be selected.
McLaughlin earned her second Connecticut All-America honors in the spring of 2021, helping CCSU to its third straight Northeast Conference title. She had 10 points and four goals in a COVID-shortened spring season.
In 45 matches she has amassed 17 goals and 10 assists, including a goal in the season opener last Saturday against University of Connecticut. She is a three-time all-NEC pick, and is a two-time NEC Midfielder of The Year. She also received the 2018 NEC Rookie of The Year award. She was also a United Soccer Coaches All-American third-team pick.
Semifinalists will be named Nov. 30 after the completion of Div. I All-American voting concludes. The top three players will then be announced Dec. 8, and then the winner of the award will be named Jan. 7, 2022 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Missouri.
