Central Connecticut State University’s men’s cross country was selected as the No. 2 team in the Northeast Conference preseason poll.

The Blue Devils are coming off a second place finish in the NEC Championship from last season, acting as the runner-up to Wagner – who was selected as the No. 1 team.

Wagner received eight votes while CCSU received two.

CCSU enters the fall of 2021 looking for its 10th NEC title with head coach Eric Blake returning for his 13th season. The Blue Devils have had nine consecutive titles under Blake’s leadership from 2009 to 2017, the first time it has been done in league history across all sports.

Elias Field an Eddie Nicholas, the No. 1 and No. 2 runners for CCSU, return for their junior seasons after fourth and fifth (respectively) finishes at the NEC Championship.

Sept. 4 will be the season opener for CCSU, when they race at the Marist Invite.
