Central Connecticut State University will open the men’s soccer season ranked No. 7 in the NEC preseason poll.

St. Francis Brooklyn is ranked first, receiving eight votes. LIU also received two votes, and is second in the rankings.

Ahead of the Blue Devils is Saint Francis in third, Merrimack and Farleigh Dickinson both tied at fourth and Bryant in sixth.

In a shortened 2020 spring season due to COVID-19 the Blue Devils went .500 under the direction of interim head coach Dave Kelly. Kelly starts his second season this fall with CCSU.

The team will feature no returning seniors. New Britain native Johnny Morell will be a redshirt freshman.

The Blue Devils will be kicking off their season on August 31 with a road game against Rhode Island. The NEC Tournament is scheduled to start on November 12 and will be hosted at the site of the highest seed.
