Central Connecticut State football announced its 2021 fall football season schedule Monday.
The Blue Devils will open the season at home at Arute Field on Friday, Sept. 3. It will be the first of six home games to be played this fall for CCSU as chases its seventh Northeast Conference title.
The season opener will be against Southern Connecticut. It’s the first time the schools have met since 2011. Following Week 1 will be a road trip against Wagner on Sept. 11.
Central will host two non-conference games against Southeastern Louisiana and Columbia. The games will be played Sept. 18 and Oct. 9, respectively.
The game against Columbia will be homecoming for the Blue Devils.
Only one non-conference road game will be played this fall as the Blue Devils will take on Power 5 school University of Miami. It’s the first time the schools will meet in program history and is the second time CCSU has faced an ACC team (Syracuse in 2017).
The Blue Devils will end the season with six consecutive Northeast Conference games. CCSU goes to Sacred Heart (Oct. 16), takes on Bryant at home (Nov. 6) and closes out the season against Saint Francis at home (Nov. 20).
CCSU will also play Merrimack (Oct. 3) and Duquesne (Nov. 13) on the road.
CCSU did not play during the 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, the program finished 11-2 and finished ranked in the Top 25 of the FCS rankings.
