FAIRFIELD - The CCSU men’s basketball team saw its lead vanish in the beginning of the second half as Sacred Heart scored the first nine points in the second en route to the 67-54 win over the Blue Devils on Saturday.

CCSU junior guard Tyler Kohl posted his third consecutive double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Kohl, however, was the only Blue Devils scorer in double figures.

CCSU led 30-27 at the half before missing its first five shots in the second half.

The Blue Devils, however, cut the deficit to nine points with 3:06 to play but that is as close as it would get down the stretch.

CCSU shot 22-of-47 from the field and 6-of-19 from 3-point range.

At the foul line the Blue Devils struggled, hitting just four free throws on 12 attempts.

The Pioneers outrebounded CCSU 34-28.

Mario Matasovic led Sacred Heart with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blue Devils will host Mount St. Mary’s on Thursday night and fell to 8-17 (3-9 NEC) on the season with the loss.
