The Central Connecticut men’s basketball team went into overtime for its season opener at the University of Hartford on Friday night, but came up short in an 85-84 loss.

Tyler Kohl (team-high 21 points) hit a lay-up with 25 seconds to go in regulation for the game-tying basket, as the game was 75-all heading into the overtime period. But Hartford went up by four points in the opening minute of overtime and while CCSU came back to tie the contest at 79 with under two minutes to go, the Blue Devils never held a lead in OT.

Austin Nehls had 18 points in the game for CCSU, while Mustafa Jones had 12 points.

John Carroll led Hartford with 26 points.
