NEW BRITAIN - The CCSU women’s basketball team wanted to honor its seniors in their final home game of the season Saturday afternoon.

Mission accomplished.

The Blue Devils used nine different scorers to beat St. Francis Brooklyn 71-44.

Kiana Patterson led CCSU with 17 points while Giocelis Reynoso pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Blue Devils (9-19, 9-8) jumped out to a quick start in the first quarter, outscoring the Terriers 18-4, and never relinquished their lead. By halftime, CCSU took a 37-19 lead into the locker room with eight different players scoring.

Patterson broke out in the second half with seven consecutive points for the Blue Devils to put them up 46-23. CCSU continued to share the basketball in the second half, recording a collective 19 assists.

Freshman Nialla Curtis recorded her first points of the season on a 3-pointer off a pass from Chayla Lewis, and then finished a fastbreak layup with less than a second left to conclude the Blue Devils’ final home game.

CCSU will close out its 2016-17 campaign on Monday at Bryant at 7 p.m. The Blue Devils will play in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinal game on March 5, with an opponent to be determined.
