CCSU men's basketball drops seventh straight NEC game to Robert Morris

PITTSBURGH - The CCSU (2-16, 0-7) men’s basketball team dropped its seventh straight conference game to open up NEC play and 13th straight game overall on Thursday night in a 74-67 loss to Robert Morris (7-13, 3-4). The Blue Devils shot 52 percent in the contest to keep it close throughout, but they also allowed the Colonials to shoot 52 percent from the field and 44 percent from three.

Austin Nehls had a solid performance in the losing effort. The sophomore had a game-high 22 points while making four of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc and seven of his 15 shots total. Khalen Cumberlander was the only other CCSU player to score in double figures as he had 13 points but he also committed six of the Blue Devils’ 20 turnovers in the contest. Tyson Batiste was also notable as the freshman had six points, four rebounds and five assists.

Kavon Stewart was the leading scorer for Robert Morris in the game as he poured in 21 points, eight of which came from the charity stripe. Stewart was one of four colonials to score in double figures. He was joined by Aaron Tate (10 points), Dachon Burke (11 points) and Matty McConnell (12 points).
