BRISTOL – Bridge Community Church’s fourth annual Car Show this Saturday will bring a variety of vintage automobiles, with proceeds supporting mission work abroad.
The Car Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church at 43 School St. The event will include trophies, raffles and vendors. Proceeds support the church’s efforts to provide aid to disadvantaged communities internationally.
“We help people all over the world,” said Randy Clair, parishioner at Bridge Community Church and spokesperson for the Car Show. “A lot of the work we do is in the Dominican Republic. We’ll be going back there this year because they just got demolished by another hurricane.”
Hurricane Fiona hit the Dominican Republic, as well as Puerto Rico, on Monday. In the Dominican Republic, it resulted in multiple mudslides, which caused damage to highways and closed resorts.
Clair said that church members will be traveling to the Dominican Republic this December to assist with storm cleanup and infrastructure repair efforts.
The Car Show has been well-received by multiple generations of visitors in past years, Clair said. It has attracted approximately 50 cars, most of which are vintage and classic cars ranging from the 1930s through the 1970s.
“We’ve gotten good crowds walking through,” said Clair. “It’s a smaller show, but we’ve had a lot of parents coming with their kids.”
The vendors, Clair said, will include a local crafter selling leather goods including wallets and belts.
The raffles will include prizes donated by church members and community sponsors, including local businesses.
Entry to the Car Show is free for spectators.
The price to enter a car in the show is $10. It is open to all makes, models and years.
