BRISTOL – The Bristol-Burlington Health District is offering its inaugural “Community Baby Shower” this Saturday, providing a one-stop-shop for learning about ways to help meet the needs of babies in the community.

The Community Baby Shower event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 240 Stafford Ave. Those who attend must be expecting a child or have a child up to 1 year old and must be a Bristol or Burlington resident. The event is intended to provide new families with access to services and resources.

“The objective is to help families and children in the Bristol and Burlington area connect with resources in the community,” said Kristina Tanguay, public health nurse with the Bristol-Burlington Health District. “There will also be giveaways and raffle prizes.”

Tanguay said that families will be able to pick up several helpful items, collected through community donations to the Bristol Burlington Health District, including clothes, toys, blankets and baby supplies.

“The raffles will be for larger items including a crib, a bassinet and a stroller,” she said. “There will also be a cake.”

There will also be several representatives from community organizations participating, including Bristol Health Pediatrics, the Bristol Pediatric Center, Wheeler Clinic, CHC Community Health Center, WIC, HRA, the Parent Child Center, the Bristol Child Development Center and from Enfamil, a formula company.

Tanguay encouraged families to stop by Saturday and take advantage of this opportunity. She said that the Bristol Burlington Health District hopes to hold this event annually.

“We see all the need in the community and we want to do what we can to help,” she said.
