BRISTOL – A condo fire in Bristol on Thursday displaced one family.

The fire was reported around 2:43 p.m., at 183 Robertson St., a two-story, three-unit condo, where police had responded for a medical call when they called in to the fire department upon seeing heavy smoke coming from the building.

Fire Chief Richard Hart said firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, finding that the smoke was stemming from a fully-involved basement fire. They knocked down the blaze within about 15 minutes.

Everyone who had been in the building had already been evacuated by the time the first firefighters arrived on scene.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the basement, which sustained extensive damage, Hart said.

The residents of one of the three units have been displaced as a result of the damage. The American Red Cross was called to assist them with shelter needs.

The local fire marshal responded to the scene of the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
