BRISTOL – United Way of West Central Connecticut has opened registration for their annual golf tournament, their largest fundraiser of the year, which will be held Sept. 13 at Chippanee Golf Course.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. at the course at 6 Marsh Road. The tournament will include a continental breakfast, lunch and an awards dinner. There will also be several on-course contests, Daren’s Ice Cream truck, and several “oasis holes” with food and beverages.

“This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for United Way of West Central Connecticut and it’s also the year we are celebrating out 100th anniversary,” said Judi Ann Lausier, resource development coordinator for United Way of West Central Connecticut. “Many of our supporters from out of state who could not be here the last two years due to the pandemic will be returning. Manny Martinez, our new president and CPO, will be meeting and greeting participants.”

Lausier said that 100 golfers have currently signed up. There is room for a full flight of 144.

“There is a lot of camaraderie and some serious competition each year,” she said. “We encourage players to come out and join us. It’s one way of investing in our community and making it a stronger, healthier place to live.”

Those who come to this year’s golf tournament can participate in a “digital swing analysis” with Select Physical Therapy.

iPads will be set up to analyze a person’s swing and then recommend corrections to help them improve their game.

Those who pre-register for the golf tournament are asked to provide their jacket size. They will be provided with windbreakers that commemorate the 100th anniversary of United Way of West Central Connecticut.

“We appreciate all of those who have come out to support us over the years, even through the pandemic,” said Lausier. “We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of old friends and sponsors.”

People can pre-register by visiting uwwestcentralct.org/golf-tournament or by calling 860-582-9559.
