BRISTOL – The Boys & Girls Club of Bristol's "Paint the Future" Gala at the Aqua Turf Club June 11 will support a playground and programs for local youths.

The fundraiser gala will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. at the banquet facility at 556 Mulberry St., Southington. It will include fine dining, dinner and dessert, dancing, an open bar and live music by the New York City based "After Party." There will also be a silent auction with a wide array of items.

Speakers will include Josias Reynoso, the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol's 2020 Youth of the Year, and Brianna Parker, who was named the 2021 Youth of the Year, as well as other club youths.

"I plan to talk about my upbringing with the club and how it changed my life," said Parker. "I wouldn't be where I am now and I wouldn't be able to do what I'm doing now were it not for the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol."

Parker said that she will speak about the staff who she met who helped her along her journey, her experience running a Keystone group, and how the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol prepared her for college.

"I'm currently studying social work at Central Connecticut State University," said Parker. "I love it; I just completed my freshman year."

The event will also see Bristol Central basketball player and Donovan Clingan honored. Clignan, a senior, was named the Gatorade Connecticut Boys Basketball Player of the Year for the second straight season this year. He has been recruited to play for UConn this fall.

Proceeds from the gala will be used to support club programs, such as those that Parker benefitted from. They will also be used to construct an outdoor playground area outside of the Family Center at 255 West St.

“We’ve purchased two different houses next to us and the city has given us some APRA funding, $600,000, in order to do some outdoor playground areas,” Boys & Girls Club of Bristol CEO Tamara Carlson said previously. “That’s great. We still want to do a pavilion and a splash pad and some other outdoor activity areas for the kids and that all costs more than $600,000. This is one of the events that will help raise money for that.”

The presenting sponsor for the Paint the Future Gala is The Robert Rosenheim Foundation. Other sponsors include Barnes Group, Inc., D'Amato Construction, Stanley Black & Decker, Carpenter Companies, Thomaston Savings Bank, Dunkin, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Bristol Housing Authority , iHeart Media and Community Access

Tickets are $500.
