Police on Friday said they arrested Gregory Rogers, 39, on charges of first-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny and two counts each of third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief.

The charges stem from burglaries on April 20, at Corner Pizza, and on April 22, at Rodd’s Restaurant. Detectives identified Rogers as a suspect in both cases before acquiring warrants for his arrest – which were served Thursday “without incident,” police said.

Rogers was held on $200,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in New Britain Superior Court.

Shortly after the burglary, the owner of Rodd’s Restaurant, Gina Cianci Legnani-Pellrine, told The Bristol Press the suspect broke into her restaurant sometime around 2 a.m., which is uncomfortably close to when she normally arrives to work to start prepping for the day. She very easily could have walked right into a burglary in progress and found herself face-to-face with the suspect, she said. 

The suspect ultimately broke a glass door to get inside Rodd’s. Legnani-Pellrine said the man was lucky that he made off with money, as nothing is usually left at the restaurant overnight.
