BRISTOL – Police on Friday collected evidence in connection with a car crash reported a week earlier, during a storm that dumped about 6 inches of snow.

Police closed down Middle Street, from Lake Avenue to West Gate, for nearly two hours during the followup to their investigation on Friday. The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is heading up the investigation.

Police did not indicate specifically what they were looking to find.

Last Friday, a serious crash was reported on Middle Street, around 4:30 a.m., during a snowstorm the area was seeing.

Police said two motorists, one driving a sedan and one driving an SUV, were headed south on 229 when the front end of the SUV struck the driver side of the sedan. The driver of the sedan was taken to an area hospital with a serious injury, according to police.

No other injuries were reported.

Each driver was the lone occupant of their vehicle.
