BRISTOL – Avril’s Boutique has opened on Terryville Avenue, offering a wide selection of clothes, apparel, shoes, jewelry and more.

Brenda Jules and her business partner Diane Higa opened Avril’s Boutique at 912 Terryville Ave., suite 4, on Nov. 12.

“For a smaller boutique, we have a big variety,” said Jules. “There’s a bit of everything and a lot of jewelry that you don’t see everywhere else. It’s a nice spot to stop in and look around.”

In addition to women’s clothing, men’s and women’s apparel, shoes and jewelry, people can also purchase a variety of natural items at Avril’s Boutique including candles and lotions.

Having previously had a shop in Waterbury and East Haven, Jules said she took a few years off when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now a survivor, and having recovered from her treatments, she was advised by friends to re-open in the Bristol area.

“It’s a very good location, along a main road, and there’s nothing else like it really in the Bristol and Terryville area,” said Jules.

Jules said that, since opening last Friday, she has received a good response from customers who have stopped in. She said that customers can expect to find a welcoming atmosphere when they step through the door.

“My goal going forward is to get feedback from customers when they come in,” she said. “I want to see what sort of items they like so that I can try to bring more of that sort of thing in. I want to continue to build relationships with more brands.”

Jules is also hoping to do a grand opening and ribbon cutting with city leaders in the future.

For those who have yet to stop in, Jules encouraged them to do so.

“In my circle of breast cancer survivors we have a saying – love yourself,” she said. “At Avril’s Boutique you will find clothing and accessories that will make you love yourself that much more. You’re going to look fabulous.”
