BRISTOL – The City of Bristol was recently awarded with the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada’s Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting.
This certificate was presented for the city’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year end of June 30, 2020. Reports are observed by independent panels to ensure high standards for such programs and include “spirit of full disclosure,” said association members, in order to share financial stories and to encourage users and their groups to read such reports.
“The City of Bristol is honored to have received this award and recognition and will strive to continue the success in the upcoming fiscal year,” Bristol Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu said.
The certificate is considered one of the highest forms of recognition in financial reporting and governmental accounting. The recognition is meant to signify a major accomplishment by a particular government and its managing teams.
“These awards are indicative of the dedication of the staff in the Comptroller’s Office to continue to receive these awards. This is the 34th year the City has received this award. These awards are viewed very highly by the rating agencies. I want to give special recognition to the efforts of Robin Manuele, Assistant Comptroller, Jodi McGrane, Assistant to the Comptroller and Skip Gillis, Senior Accountant,” Bristol Comptroller Diane Waldron said.
