BRISTOL -- Two teenagers were shot on Sunday in the area of Main and Summer streets, police said Tuesday.

The male victims, who have not been identified, were 16 and 17 years old. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

According to police, the victims were in a car with two other juveniles when the shooting was reported around 8:41 p.m. Sunday. Police said they fielded multiple calls from individuals reporting the sound of gunshots.

The officers who first arrived on scene determined that an unoccupied vehicle had been involved. It was later determined that the vehicle had been occupied by four juveniles before police arrived.

Both victims were treated at area hospitals and have since been released. Police said they are working to identify the other two juveniles who were with the victims.

Patrol officers and detectives canvassed the scene and are still investigating.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

“While there are no known threats to the community at this time, we are interested in talking to anyone who may have seen anything,” police Chief Brian Gould said in a statement issued Tuesday.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact Det. Robert Mendela at 860-314-4571.
