BRISTOL – Burlington is anticipated to join the Bristol Plaza with a grand opening Sept. 17.

Burlington will be filling the former Savers store space, said a statement from Bristol City Hall. With the new retailer addition to Bristol, this will make it the fourteenth Burlington location in the state. The store franchise is noted for its selection of men, women and children’s clothing, baby items, home decorations and other gifts.

Around 60 to 70 jobs will be added to the Bristol job scene.

“Burlington brings a new option with high-quality, high-value for our shoppers,” said Chris Fleming, vice president of asset management for Federal Realty. “We are continuously focused on finding the best stores for the merchandise mix at Bristol Plaza, and know the community will benefit greatly from this new resource.”

On the same day at 7:45 a.m., a ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated. Federal Realty Investment Trust, area officials and the Burlington team are anticipated to be there. As part of the event, Burlington representatives will issue a $5,000 donation to a local surprise school with assistance from nonprofit partner adoptaclassroom.org. The organization collaborates with foundations, private donors and corporations to provide assistance and support for “high needs K-12 schools, teachers and students.”

“We have been excited for Burlington to open,” Bristol Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu said. “The addition of a store such as this is a win for Bristol and I can’t say enough about the working relationship that we have with the plaza management, Federal Realty.”

Burlington is based out of New Jersey and is recognized as an off-price retailer with net sales in 2020 of around $5.8 billion. It is considered a Fortune 500 company and its stock is commonly traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
