BRISTOL -- A water main break on James P. Casey Road is expected to interrupt water service to residents on numerous city streets.

The Bristol Water Department reported the break around 4:16 p.m., saying service would need to be shut off around 9 p.m. for crews to make the necessary repairs. They will remain on site until service has been restored.

The water department said residents on James P. Casey Road, Minor Street, Matthews Street, Hill Street, Perkins Street, Peacedale Street, Pinehurst Road, Hart Street and all interconnecting streets may be affected.

Once service has been restored, discolored water may be seen by residents. Cold water should be run in a bathtub until it clears, water department officials said.

Laundry should not be done until water is running clear, officials warned.
