Drag is coming back to Bristol.

Main Street Pint & Plate will be hosting a quarterly “Wigs and Waffles” drag brunch at its restaurant. The premiere performance is on Aug. 15.

The show will star Barbra Joan Streetsand, Chastity Singer and Summer Orlando. It will include singing, celebrity impersonations, music and more. The show is family friendly.

Jen Duquette, general manager of Main Street Pint & Plate, said there will also be interactive parts of the performance, such as the “queens” walking amongst the audience and refilling coffees.

“It’s an interactive show, which is what we loved about it. It’s not just sitting and watching a dinner show,” Duquette said.

All three of the drag queens used to perform quarterly at Delish Lounge, which has since permanently closed. They also recently performed in the Bristol Hospital virtual event “Drinks and Drag: Broadway on Broadview” in May, which raised money for the Bristol Hospital Emergency Fund.

Two Bristol natives, Tony DiPietro and Allen Stone, will be in the show. DiPietro will perform as Barbra Joan Streetsand impersonating Barbra Streisand, and Stone will perform as Chastity Singer.

DiPietro, who uses gender neutral pronouns, has performed drag in Bristol for about 10 years. DiPietro said they have been pleasantly surprised by the city’s reception of their performances.

“When we first started doing regular shows I didn’t know how it would go over,” DiPietro said, “and we sold out at every performance.”

Duquette said she first heard of the group when she saw a video of their performance at Delish Lounge. She knew she wanted to schedule a show with them at Main Street Pint & Plate after Delish Lounge closed, especially because there are not many shows like it in the area.

“We wanted something fun, different, high energy to bring to the crowd that you don’t get much in this area,” Duquette said.

DiPietro said they are glad there will once again be a regular drag show in their hometown.

“We’re excited to bring drag back to Bristol,” DiPietro said.

The two hour premiere performance is on Aug. 15. Seating begins at 11:30. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available at Main Street Pint & Plate or online at wigsandwafflesdragbrunchtickets.eventbrite.com.
