BRISTOL -- Police are investigating a smash and grab theft at the Applewood Restaurant and Bar.

Officers were called to the restaurant, located at 820 Farmington Ave., around 4:19 a.m. Friday after a burglary alarm went off at the business.

Police said a male suspect smashed a window to the restaurant, entered the building and grabbed a cash register. He left with the register and fled on foot.

The owner of the business responded to the scene and was able to view video surveillance, police said. An image of the suspect was not immediately available Friday, according to police.

The suspect has been described as standing somewhere between 5 foot, 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and black and white sneakers.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Bristol police at 860-584-3011.
