BRISTOL - A pickup truck caught on fire in a residential driveway Monday afternoon in the midst of a snowstorm.

Firefighters were dispatched to 1 Hickory St. shortly before 12:30 p.m.

The truck, which was parked in the driveway, was far enough away from the two-story house to pose no risk of fire spreading there.

No injuries were reported.

“It started in the engine area and spread to the cabin,” said Deputy Fire Chief Mark McCarthy.

Firefighters put out the fire within minutes of arriving.

McCarthy speculated that the truck would likely be a total loss due to the damage in the engine and dashboard area, as the the materials used there tend to burn and melt.

The storm didn’t delay the firefighters, McCarthy said.
