Bristol to show its support for veterans with multiple events through the weekend

BRISTOL - The city will show their support for veterans with multiple events.

On Veterans Day, there will be a ceremony at Chippens Hill Middle School at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be David Connelly, a Vietnam veteran with the U.S. Navy. He also has more than 30 years with the Connecticut National Guard. The Reach for the Stars dance troupe will also be performing.

During the event tickets will be handed out to attendees for a post-ceremony luncheon at American Legion Post 2 at 22 Hooker Court.

Also on Veterans Day, Imagine Nation, A Museum Early Learning Center, on One Pleasant St., will be opened from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will be offering themed educational workshops throughout the day. All workshops are free with museum admission.

Before Veteran’s Day there will be a few events, starting with the Veteran Social at Manross Library at 260 Central St. The social will begin at 9 a.m. Friday and refreshments will be served.

On Saturday, St. Joseph Church’s Veterans Mass will be held at 4 p.m. The Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble will also be holding a Veterans Day concert Sunday at 3 p.m. at Chippens Hill Middle School. The admission for the concert is free.

Also on Sunday there will be a Veteran Mass at Zion Lutheran Church at 10 a.m.
