BRISTOL - A convicted sex offender has been charged with recording a 15-year-old girl in the shower with a hidden camera.
Vincent Patrizi, 51, of 38 Norton St., faces four counts of voyeurism with malice.
According to the arrest warrant in the case, the videos of the nude teenager showering were discovered after Patrizi put his Apple ID account on an iPad that belonged to a 7-year-old, who is related to the victim. Patrizi’s iPhone synchronized its data with the iPad because the account was linked, the warrant said.
The warrant has been redacted to preclude the nexus between Partizi and the victim.
The victim in May told police the iPad received a missed Facetime call, causing her to check to see who had called the 7-year-old’s device.
Upon examining the device, the girl found a contact with the name “hooker,” the warrant said. She looked up the phone number associated with the contact and found that it belonged to an “escort service featuring strippers and other adult services,” the warrant said.
The girl also found three video files but did not initially look at them. She told the 7-year-old to have Patrizi put another apple ID on the iPad because it was synchronizing with the 51-year-old’s iPhone, the warrant said. The girl then became suspicious after the new account was put on the iPad, finding that the video files had been deleted. She was able to access them in a “recently deleted” folder, discovering footage that showed her showering nude, according to the warrant.
Police were able to get a search warrant for Patrizi’s Apple account, finding video files that showed him setting up some kind of a hidden camera in the shower where the 15-year-old was seen nude, according to the arrest warrant.
Police also spoke to an investigator from the state’s Department of Children and Families, who said Patrizi admitted that he recorded the teen but only because he overheard a conversation in which she said she would be recording herself inside the shower, according to the warrant. He added that he wanted the video for “documentation purposes” to stop her from doing something she might regret, the warrant continued.
Court papers say Patrizi was convicted of first-degree sexual assault in 1994 and released from prison in 1999. He is required to verify his address with the state’s sex offender registration.
Patrizi was charged this week in the voyeurism case. He is free on $350,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Oct. 11.
