BRISTOL - A Bristol woman was arrested Monday and charged with assaulting a nurse at Bristol Hospital.

Noella Morin, 66, of 30 Sheila Court, allegedly punched the woman in the side of the face as she was trying to help her back down onto her bed, according to the police report.

Morin faces charges of assault on a police officer, fireman or medic and failure to comply with fingerprint requirements.

According to the report, a 27-year-old nurse on Monday noticed that Morin, who had been admitted to Bristol Hospital that day, was sitting at the end of her bed. The woman approached the 66-year-old to try to get her to get back into the main part of the bed for her safety. As she did, Morin began trying to stand up, the report states. The nurse then grabbed Morin’s arm in attempt to help her back into the bed.

According to the report, Morin allegedly punched the 27-year-old in the side of the face. Police were called around 4:39 p.m.

An officer noted in the report that the nurse had a small cut on her face that was bleeding and had some redness to it.

Morin was taken into custody, where she refused to cooperate with the booking process, court papers say. She was arraigned in New Britain Superior Court on Tuesday, where a judge released her on a promise to appear.

Morin has been ordered not to contact the victim while her case is pending. She is due back in court on Oct. 16 to enter a plea.
