BRISTOL - The Mum Festival Committee has announced that this yearâs festival will run from Thursday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 22, with the theme of âGrowing Together.â
âFall has always been a time to celebrate the results of a growth,â said Jack Ferraro, Mum Festival chairman. âAs our community continues to grow together, we thought that this would be a great theme to showcase all the good going on in the greater Bristol community. This yearsâ festival will certainly feature something for everyone. The Mum Festival has been a part of Bristol history for nearly six decades and the all-volunteer Mum Festival Committee is in the process of putting together a very special event that truly showcases the theme of âGrowing Together.ââ
Over the course of the weekend, the free-admission festival has a carnival on Friday night through Sunday night, amusement park rides, dozens of vendors from area businesses, crafters, local producers, restaurants, food trucks, community organizations, non-profits and museums.
In addition, the festival will feature childrenâs programming, a petting zoo, pony rides, touch-a-vehicle, horse and carriage rides, a beer and wine garden, all-day live music and entertainment, a car show, a Harley bike show, fireworks on Friday night and the traditional Mum Parade on Sunday.
New attractions this year will be a Thursday night program - âJazz Under the Starsâ - featuring live music. Thursday night will have art, food trucks and refreshments, but there will be no amusement rides that day.
As fall approaches, the Mum Festival Committee is looking for those interested in becoming festival sponsors, vendors, volunteers or individuals and organizations interested in participating in the Mum Festival Parade. Vendor applications and parade applications are being accepted online at bristolmumfestival.com.
The Mum Festival Committee is also looking for community support to offset the costs of putting on the event. Those who wish to make a donation in support of the festival can visit bristolmumfestival.com.
âPlanning for this yearsâ Mum Festival is fully underway and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever,â said Ferraro. âLook for more information to be released throughout the summer and early fall. And remember, we need your support.â
The Mum Festival & Parade is produced by the Exchange Club of Bristol. The Mum Festival & Parade is a City of Bristol sponsored event.
