BRISTOL - Crews on Tuesday worked to repair the third water main break in the last five days in the city.

The most recent break was reported at about 3:16 p.m., on North Pond Street, near Birge Road. The surrounding streets were expected to be affected, according to the Bristol Water Department.

Residents in the area may have seen low water pressure or no service at all. Crews from the water department remained on scene until the break was repaired. The repairs were expected to be done in the late afternoon hours.

Once water service was restored, residents had been advised to run cold water in a bathtub until it ran clear. Laundry should not be done until the water is clear.

This is the third water main break in the city since Friday, when Maple Avenue was closed for much of the day. Another break was reported Monday on Park Street.
