BRISTOL - Anyone who scores a hole in one at the Bristol Chamber of Commerce’s 27th Annual Golf Tournament on Aug. 6 at Tunxis Country Club can walk away with a new Harley, Jeep, or $10,000.

Registration for the tournament will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the club at 87 Town Farm Road, Farmington. A lunch will be held on the pavilion, including hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage, chips, soda, water and beer, followed by the tournament beginning at noon with a shotgun start. After golf, participants can enjoy a steak dinner and awards will be given out.

Cindy Bombard, president and CEO of the Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce, said that last year 162 golfers participated.

“Proceeds from this tournament will go back into a line item that lets us help out in the community,” she said. “We have used it to pay for street lights and the Concerts on the Green.”

New to this year’s event, there will also be a Ladies Only nine-hole tournament.

In preparation for this tournament, the chamber has been holding Martinis and Mulligans that women can participate in to better their game.

“We have Martinis and Mulligans every Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chippanee Golf Club,” said Bombard. “It’s a one-hour clinic with a professional golfer followed by networking. Women can sign up on CentralCTChambers.org.”

Bombard said that due to Martinis and Mulligans, the chamber will be bringing 30 new female golfers to local golf clubs.

The $10,000 hole in one prize is sponsored by Blum Shapiro. The 2019 Jeep hole in one prize is sponsored by Crowley Auto Group and the Harley hole in one prize is sponsored by Firestone Building Products.

Bombard encouraged people to come to the golf tournament for a mix of business and pleasure.

“There’s a lot of business that goes on at the golf course,” she said.
