Farmington Avenue reopens after gas leak

BRISTOL -- An area of Farmington Avenue, which was closed for nearly an hour this morning after a gas line was struck, has reopened, police said at about 9:10 a.m.

The incident, which was first reported at 8:20 a.m., had closed the portion of the road between Camp Street and Stafford Avenue. According to Eversource, a third-party contractor struck a gas line while doing work in the area.

Eversource responded, along with police. Police said the incident at no time caused any danger to the community.
