BRISTOL - One person was sent to the hospital after the moped he was driving left the road and struck a utility pole on Saturday.

Police said the young male, who was not immediately identified, suffered what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to an area hospital in an ambulance.

Police, firefighters and medics responded to the area of 179 Morris Ave., where they found a moped lying off the roadway, having sustained some damage. Police said the moped was heading north when it left the roadway and struck the pole.

The road, in the area of the crash, was closed for some time as police investigated.

Eversource was notified of the accident, as the utility pole involved sustained some minor damage.
