PLYMOUTH - A Bristol woman has pleaded not guilty to a prostitution charge in connection with a website that caters to “sugar daddies” and “sugar babies.”
Alina Stein, 24, of 90 Rosemont Ave., Bristol, appeared briefly in Bristol Superior Court on Friday, after she and a Watertown man were arrested last month outside a local motel. During her hearing, she pleaded not guilty to a charge of prostitution.
Stein’s attorney, Alfonzo Sirica, said she has been seeking treatment. He did not elaborate. Sirica was granted a continuance to April 26.
Stein and Keith Labbe, 57, of Watertown, were arrested Feb. 8 after they were found leaving Jay’s Motel, at 40 Main St. in Terryville.
While looking for a vehicle suspected to be involved in an unrelated matter, an officer who was checking the parking lot at Jay’s saw a man who appeared about 60 years old and a young looking female outside the motel. Believing the female may have been a minor who was involved in human trafficking, the officer decided to investigate, police said.
The two people got into a pickup truck and quickly drove away, leaving the lot through the driveway that is designated as an entrance only, police said. The officer pulled the vehicle over not far from the motel.
Upon further investigation, the officer found that Labbe allegedly paid for the motel room and gave Stein $150 for an unspecified sex act, police said. She was found with that amount in her purse, according to police.
Police said Labbe and Stein met on seekingarrangement.com, which caters to “sugar daddies” looking to meet “sugar babies.”
Labbe has been charged with patronizing a prostitute. The status of his case is unclear, as the state’s judicial branch website was attacked by ransomware and was unavailable Friday.
