BRISTOL - The water department is working to repair a water main break on South Street.

Crews are excavating in the area between Cauley Street and Emily Lane. The westbound lane is currently being diverted onto Memorial Boulevard as crews work.

According to a statement from the Bristol Water Department, the water in the area will be shut off at some point in the afternoon and into the early evening.

Officials anticipate the following streets will be affected:

South Street, from Ridge Road to Willis Street

Ridge Road

Father Crudele Drive

Brier Road

Wilcox Street

East Road, from South Street to Willis Street

Emily Lane

Cauley Street

Clearview Avenue

Caswell Avenue

Nestico Court

Tuttle Street

Howard Avenue

Hillside Avenue

Granger Road

Buckingham Street

Seymour Street

Others in the area may also experience low pressure or discolored water. Once the water is turned back on, residents have been advised to run the faucet in a bathtub until it clears and not to do any laundry until it clears up.
