BRISTOL - The city’s winter parking ban will go into effect Dec. 15.
The ban, which will be lifted March 15, prohibits vehicles from parking on any city street between 2 and 6 a.m. A violation will result in a $20 ticket - which can be appealed at the police department within five days after it is issued.
This restriction is in place because of a city ordinance, and is distinct from emergency parking bans that are sometimes activated because of inclement weather. The winter-long ban, which has been active in Bristol since the 1960s, is put in place in the event that bad weather strikes without warning and city workers need the streets clear to clean up snow or ice.
