BRISTOL - The results in an informal poll conducted on The Bristol Press’ website show if the mayoral election was held today there would be more support for Democratic candidate Ellen Zoppo-Sassu.

Out of the total 1,155 votes, Zoppo received 689 while Cockayne had 466 votes.

Zoppo announced she will be running for mayor Monday, and current Mayor Ken Cockayne has previously made it public he plans to continue the progress he has made.

The two candidates ran against each other in 2015.

Both candidates have received support after the topic was opened for discussion on The Press’ Facebook page.

“The family woman with the awesome education and experience of course!” said Rochelle Levins.

“Mayor Ken Cockayne has our vote,” said Robin Gaedeke Swiger.
