BRISTOL – An emergency water repair is affecting a number of customer downtown.

Crews are on scene working to restore service as quickly as possible, and will remain there until the problem is fixed, according to the Bristol Water Department.

The issue is affecting the following streets:

Talmadge Street

Colony Street

Houghton Street

Norton Street

Greene Street

Gridley Street

Edgewood Street

Woodbine Street

Cottage Street

Once service has been restored, the water department advises, customers may experience discolored water.  Citizens have been told to run cold water in the bathtub until it runs clear.  Laundry should not be done until the water is clear.
