BRISTOL - The Bristol Eastern boys basketball team improved its record to 4-3 on the season with a 37-35 win over Derby on Saturday afternoon.
The Lancers took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter and a 12-4 run to start the final frame put them up 37-28, which was Eastern’s largest lead of the game, with four minutes to play. Elijah Parent drilled a three-pointer from the corner to extend the lead to nine and then his team did not score for the remainder of the contest.
Shymar Robinson put up five of his game-high 21 points during Derby’s late comeback, but no points were scored for the final 2:50 of the game after he and Ken Little III scored seven points in a minute and 20 seconds to bring the game within two points. Davant Addison was the only other player to score for Derby in the contest.
Parent led the way for the Lancers with 10 points on two triples as Eastern will return to its home court Monday for a game against Maloney.
