The Bristol Eastern girls swim team placed second, ahead of Plainville, the Meriden co-op and Bristol Central, in the CCC South championship meet this past Friday.

“I am so proud of our girls and how hard they’ve worked this season,” Lancers coach Alyson Phelan said. “This meet is a testament to the time and dedication they’ve put into pushing themselves to get better. They achieved almost 30 individual best times in this meet alone.”

Several swimmers and divers earned all-conference honors by placing among the top two in each event: Brianna Ogonowski (first in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke), Chelsea Demarest (100 backstroke), Taylor Demarest (second in the 200 freestyle and first in the 500 freestyle), Julia Michaud (as part a relay team, also going to states) and Emily Mulcunry (diving).

Mulcunry, a junior, was the diving champion, beating second place by more than 20 points. She received a score of 352.90 for her 11-dive list and hopes to do even better at states on Wednesday, with even more added difficulty.
