The St. Paul swimming and diving team finished eighth in the NVL finals on Friday night, with Amelia Badzioch placing third in the 200 freestyle and sixth in the 500 freestyle.
Among other competitors for the Falcons, Emily Haase finished 14th in the 200 freestyle and seventh in the 100 breaststroke, Molly MacAllister was 11th in the 200 IM and 14th in the 100 backstroke, Abby MacAllister finished 17th in the 200 IM and 16th in the 100 breaststroke and Julia Sosnowski was 21st in the 500 freestyle and 21st in the 100 backstroke.
In relay events, St. Paul’s medley relay (Sosnowski, Haase, Molly MacAllister and Badzioch) finished seventh, its 200 freestyle relay (Abby MacAllister, Lyndsey Stanwicks, Amber Austin and Sosnowski) finished ninth and its 400 freestyle relay (Badzioch, Abby MacAllister, Haase and Molly MacAllister) was seventh.
RHAM 3, Bristol Eastern 2: The Lancers were eliminated in the CCC Tournament semifinals on Thursday night at Avon High School, 18-25, 25-16, 25-13, 18-25, 15-12. RHAM went on to beat Farmington in straight sets for the championship the next night.
“It was a hard fought battle and a complete team effort,” Bristol Eastern coach Stacy Rivoira said.
The Lancers, who start Class L state tournament play with a second round match on Thursday, were led by Zoe Lowe (27 kills, 14 digs), Aliana Rivoira (48 assists, 25 digs, 3 aces) and Bella Nozzolillo (11 kills, 3 blocks, 3 digs).
