BRISTOL - The wet conditions on the Bristol Eastern turf weren’t going to stop the Lancers girls soccer team from taking care of business.

Bristol Eastern picked up its second consecutive victory with a 7-0 shutout against Platt on Monday afternoon.

Bristol Eastern showcased a dynamic offensive attack, with three goals from Myah Croze, two from Kailey Laprise and one each for Leah Policarpio and Bella Lusitani.

Laprise and Ciara Collins each had a pair of assists. Croze added an assist.

“I think this is what our team needed, to get the right mindset and keep continuing this to win more games in the future and hopefully make the tournament,” Laprise said.

With the offense clicking and controlling possession, the Panthers only got six shots in the game and only four were on goal, all coming in the second half.

Ava Gilbert got the start in net for Bristol Eastern after helping lead the Lancers to their first win over Middletown.

Riley Giblin came in during the second half with the Lancers holding a big lead.

While Gilbert has gone 2-0 in her starts, Redman is keeping his options open.

“It really is game-to-game,” Redman said. “And I tell the girls that. I know it sounds like coach speak, but it really is. They’re working really hard and they all have good days and bad days. We gave Ava a chance in there and she played well but it really is day-to-day.”

Senior defender Meredith Forman wasn’t needed with the early lead established. Forman, the defensive leader for Bristol Eastern, got injured against the Blue Dragons, but it’s no concern moving forward.

“She was cleared for today. She could’ve played, but we got the lead early and took the opportunity to get her another day of rest,” Redman said.
