BRISTOL - Ciara Collins earned her first varsity start for Bristol Eastern and the freshman delivered, scoring a goal off a pass from junior Leah Policarpio.

“I was a little nervous at first and I had some sloppy touches,” Collins said. “But overall it was a decent performance, I guess, and it felt good to score one of the goals.”

Collins was one of two freshmen to start for Bristol Eastern, the other being Audra Porowski.

Lancers head coach Scott Redman has high expectations for both of them.

“It’s a good step for them, but we expect them to play well,” Redman said. “Expectations don’t drop just because it’s the first game. They’re good players and they can handle it, so that’s what we expect.”
