Maghini's big game not enough as Bristol Eastern girls basketball loses close game to Middletown

BRISTOL - The Bristol Eastern girls basketball team came up on the short end of a back-and-forth game Monday night, losing to visiting Middletown, 58-57.

The Lancers led by three after the first quarter, trailed by two at halftime and went into the final quarter tied 51-all, but Middletown took the lead in the final period and slowed the pace of the game to a crawl, as Bristol Eastern was unable to get the ball back in time for a potential winning play.

Hannah Maghini led all scorers with 29 points for the Lancers (6-10), with teammate Jordan Ouellette adding 14 points and Miranda Janick scoring 12.

Middletown (9-7) was led by Silvana Barcomb’s 15 points, with Mackenzie Dunn (13) and Amanda Fudge (10) also hitting double digits.
