Bristol Eastern girls basketball wins opening game in Danbury holiday tournament

DANBURY - The Bristol Eastern girls basketball team won its opening game in the Greater Danbury Girls Holiday Festival at the Danbury War Memorial on Tuesday evening, beating a tough New Milford team 58-51.

The Lancers trailed 22-19 at halftime after scoring just six points in the opening quarter, but found their offense in the second half, taking a one-point lead into the final quarter before holding off the Greenwave.

For Bristol Eastern (2-2), Jordan Ouellette had 19 points and 12 rebounds, Hannah Maghini had 16 points, Miranda Janick added 11 points and Paige McLaughlin netted four.

New Milford (2-1) was led by Gillian Boss (20 points) and Aunalise Anderson (14).

Bristol Eastern will face either Danbury or New Fairfield in Thursday night’s championship game.
